In today's lesson we were analysing CD covers and thinking what it preaches out to the audience such as what type of genre is it, who the target audience would be and is there anything special they include which appeal to the audience.
I was analysing the album of Usher. Usher is a famous artist and is known by the public for his number one selling songs. He is an American recording artist and actor. He rose to fame during the 1990s with the release of his second album which was called 'My Way' which lead to billboard hot 100 number one hit. His album 8701 which I will be looking at today and 'My Way' both sold 8 million copies world wide. Famous tracks such as 'Yeah' and 'Love in This Club' reached also to the top number one hits.

By looking at the album cover and knowing the Artist I can straight tell what the genre of the music is. He does many type but I think that this album is mostly Hip-Hop/ R&B. This is because by looking at the picture there is warm vibrant colours and these normally express feelings or emotions you have for your life or relationships. In addition there is a picture of him posing with the setting of a beautiful sunrise or sunset. The sun represent hot, love and is symbolic to this album.
Inside the album, the booklet is full with pictures f him showing his body which is a good skill to attract people because the more attraction you get, the more you sell. However the main point is that he is doing these poses to appeal mostly at girls. There are pictures of him also with a source of light behind him and he is appearing as if he is God or a descending angel. Each pages contain different images which link to the song and there is a short paragraph of the lyrics from the particular track giving a hint of what it is about. By looking at the lyrics, most of the song were about his affection towards love and how he feels.
This type of music will be target to people who are aged between 12-18 because of the genre and the song meanings.
